2. Do You Have A Personal Brand? - November 14, 2006

Presented by the Chamber Young Professionals

Have you ever been to an event where you were asked to make a lasting impression on a particular person, client or speaker? Did you achieve this by accidentally spilling your drink on yourself? Perhaps you mispronounced their last name. Avoid being remembered in a negative or unprofessional manner by making a positive and lasting impression with those around you.

Whether you are conscious of it or not, people everyday blend in with one another, so take a lesson and employ some of these essential techniques offered by Shirley Lichti, Founding Partner, Marketing Magic.

Personal branding is not about applying a thin layer of veneer. Itīs about getting in touch with your authentic self - whatīs true and real and genuine about you. Itīs about harnessing the values you live by and the passions that drive you and presenting the real you to others.

Sponsored by Research In Motion

Space is limited to 20 junior and 20 senior level professionals.

What it is...

·      An opportunity for mentees/mentors to expand their business network

·      An opportunity for mentors to offer guidance and support to help young professionals achieve their professionals goals

·      An opportunity for mentors to meet first hand, the next generation of young professionals within the greater Kitchener-Waterloo area

·      An opportunity for mentees and mentors to develop professional relations extending beyond this seminar

What it is not...

PLANNING A SMOOTH FAMILY BUSINESS SUCCESSION

Succession statistics indicate that transition planning must be taken serioiusly.  Only about 30% of all family businesses survive into the next generation while just 12% will still be viable into the 3rd generation and a mere 3% of all family companies are operating at the 4th generation level and beyond.
Learn from David Schnarr, Executive Director, Centre for Family Business, how a business family can beat these odds using a detailed, systematic process.

Date: Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm
Location: Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce
Breakfast and breaks included.

Classes will continue in 2007 with:
Can anyone be a Leader - The study of 12 Angry Men
Getting to YES - Negotiations and conflict management
Can you hear me now? Increase sales with the power of listening
Get your banker to say YES
Bridging the Language Gap
A 360° look at YOUR leaders

The Chamber Academy semester will end with “60 ideas in 60 minutes” networking session.

Members: $50
Future Members: $75

Register by going online to www.greaterkwchamber.com or contact Megan Harris at 519-749-6045.

Registration is required for all classes in advance.

9. Member Advertisement: New Home, Business Award for local Retailer

Finishing and moving into your brand new European Style facility (while tripling your previous square footage) would be enough to make any company proud, but for Stemmler Meats and Cheese, winning the RBC Retailer of the Year award this past week puts the icing on the cake.

“We couldn’t have done it without the support of our staff and customers for the past 21 years” said Kevin Stemmler, one of the three brothers/owners who operate Stemmler Meats and Cheese under the watchful eye of father Gerard, still active in the background.  For more information about their award winning style and products, visit www.stemmlermeats.ca.
